277. Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar how to practice vaasi yogam

Verse 277

பேசினேன் சின்மயத்தைப் புகழ்ந்து கூறி

பெரியோர்கள் பதம் போற்றி அறிவில் கூட்டி

பூசினேன் விபூதி உத்தலமாய்ப் பூசி

புருவ மையப் பூரணத்தில் புகழ்ந்து நாடி

வாசினேன் வாசி அடிமோன வாலை

வைத்தக்கால் சுழி நிற்கும் குருவைக் கேளு

கூசினால் நேத்திரத்தை மிரட்டி ஏத்து

குறிகாண மட்டும் அடர் குறித்து நில்லே

Translation:

I spoke, praising the chinmaya,

Praising the sacred of great souls, bringing it into the mind,

I adorned the sacred ash, the fine powder

At the fully complete in the middle of the brow, praising and seeking

I practiced vasi, the silent vaalai at the base/foot of the base

When stepped on it/ the air raised there, ask the guru who remains in the whorl

If the eyes glare, force the eyes and raise it,

Until the sign is seen, remain focusing at the dense darkness.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar says that he praised the chinmaya in his kaviyam, praised the sacred feet of the wise, adorned the vibhuti at the middle of the brow, the site of the ajna and practiced vaasi yogam.  Through breath control he raised his consciousness and tells Pulathiyar to start at the base, the muladhara where vaalai the guru remains.  He says that when the eyes glare during this practice Pulatthiyar should force it and raise the vaasi.  He is advised to remain focusing at the ajna until he sees the sign of the guru, the Absolute.  Adar means dense and darkness.

தான் சின்மயத்தைக் காவியத்தில் புகழ்ந்ததாகவும் பெரியோர் அடி பணிந்து அதை புத்தியில் வைத்ததாகவும் விபூதியை நெற்றியில் பூசி வாசி யோகத்தைப் பயிற்சி செய்ததாகவும் அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார்.  அதைப் பற்றி அடியான மூலாதாரத்தில் உள்ள வாலையிடம், குருவிடம், கேட்குமாறும் கண்கள் கூசினால் அவற்றை மிரட்டி வாசியை மேலே ஏற்றவேண்டும் என்றும் குறியை ஆக்ஞையில் காணும்வரை கவனக்குவிப்புடன் அங்கே நிற்கவேண்டும் என்றும் அகத்தியர் புலத்தியரிடம் கூறுகிறார்.
