307. Agatthiyar's curse, it is true even today

Verse 307

அரிதாக இத்தனை நாள் ஒளித்த தெல்லாம்

அப்பனே மதுரரசம் பொழிந்தேன் இந்நூல்

குருதாகத் துருவைத்து இந்த நூலில்

கொட்டினேன் ஞான நவமணியை வாரி

பெரிதாகப் பாராட்டு இந்த நூலை

பேரின்ப முத்தி தனிப் பெருவீரையா

சிறிதாக வெளி அரங்கம் செய்தீரானால்

சிவசிவா ரவிகோடி நரகம் தானே.

Curse

Those that were concealed all these days as secret

Son!  I poured the sweet juice as this book

In the form of a guru, in this book

I poured the jnana navamani scooping it,

Praise this book greatly,

You will attain the liberation, the supreme bliss, Sir!

If you expose this (knowledge)

Siva sivaa!  Hell upto million suns.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar that he has revealed all the knowledge that was held secret so far in this book.  He says that he has revealed them by adorning the role of a Guru.  He tells Pulatthiyar to praise this book immensely as he can attain the mukti of supreme bliss through this knowledge.  However, he places a curse also on Pulatthiyar if he reveals this knowledge to others.   He says that Pulatthiyar will be banished to hell for time of hundred million suns.

This is a warning for us also.  This knowledge should be received with supreme reverence as Agatthiyar has blessed us with it and has permitted us to share and enjoy it.  If we abuse it, insult or talk lowly of it, we will be banished to hell also!  We have only 350 verse of the 1000 verses of this book.  One wonders whether Agattthiyar has concealed the palm leaf manuscripts with the remaining verses, in line with this curse, so that it is not for the public eye, or whether the world is not ready to receive it yet!

அகத்தியர் புலத்தியரிடம், இதுநாள் வரை மிக ரகசியமாக பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட ஞானம் அனைத்தையும் தான் குருவடிவாக வந்து அவருக்கு இந்நூலின் மூலமாக விரிவாக உரைத்துள்ளதாகவும் இந்த அறிவினால் அவர் பேரின்ப முத்தியைப் பெறுவாராகையால் இந்த நூலை பெரிதும் போற்றவேண்டும் என்றும் கூறுகிறார்.  இத்துடன் ஒரு சாபத்தையும் அகத்தியர் இடுகிறார்.  இதில் உள்ளவற்றை வெளியிட்டால் புலத்தியர் கோடி சூரியன்கள் உள்ளவரை நரகத்தில் இருப்பார் என்றும் ஒரு பயங்கரமான சாபத்தை அகத்தியர் கொடுக்கிறார்.

இந்த சாபம் நமக்கும் பொருந்தும்.  அகத்தியர் பெரும் அருளுடன் இந்த நூலை நமக்கு அளித்து நாம் இதில் உள்ளவற்றைப் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ள அனுமதித்துள்ளார்.  இதைப் பற்றி யாரேனும் குறைவாகப் பேசினாலோ அதனை மரியாதையுடன் நடத்தாவிட்டாலோ அவர்கள் பெரும் நரகத்துக்குப் போவார் என்று நாம் நினைவில் கொள்ளவேண்டும்.  இப்பாடல் தொகுப்பில் நமக்கு 350 பாடல்கள்தான் கிடைத்துள்ளன.  மற்ற பாடல்கள் கொண்ட ஓலைச்சுவடி கிட்டவில்லை.  அகத்தியர் விடுத்துள்ள சாபத்தினால்தான், அந்த சுவடிகளில் உள்ள ஞானம் உலகின் கண்ணுக்கு இப்போது வரக்கூடாது என்றுதான் அவர் அதை மறைத்துள்ளாரோ என்று எண்ணத் தோன்றுகிறது.!
