236. Pralaya in the microcosm

Verse 236                 

பஞ்சாட்சர ஒடுக்கம்

கவிழ்ந்துபோம் அப்போது அடியேன் எங்கே

கருத்து வைத்து தியானம் ஓர் தியானம் உண்டு

தவிழ்ந்து போ காமல் போய் நிறுத்துவேன் யான்

சமயத்தில் அக்கினிபோல் தம்பம் காணும்

சிவந்தமனம் நீலமேனி சுடர் விட்டேகும்

சிவசிவாஅக்கினிபோல் கொழுந்து வீசும்

நவின்று அதன் அருகே நான் சென்று நிற்பேன்

நகார முதல் ஐஞ்செழுத்தும் வரக் காண்பேனே

Translation:

Merging of the five letters

They will topple. at that time I, the serviture, 

There is a place where I will place my focus and contemplate

I will stop it there, without letting it topple.  Without avoiding or losing,
At times a column like fire will appear.

The reddened mind, bluish body will ascend glowing

Siva sivaa!  It will glow like a blaze 

Speaking, I will go near it and stand there

I will see the five letters, from nakaara, emerge. 

Commentary:

This verse confirms that the pralaya that Pujandar talks about is that which occurs in the microcosm, the human body.  The seven layers he mentioned in the previous verse correspond to the seven cakras.  The bhu loka- muladhara, bhuvar loka- svadhishtana, suvar loka- manipuraka, mahar loka- anahatha, jana loka- vishuddhi, Tapaha loka- ajna and satya loka- sahasrara.  Thus, all the seven lokas or the stages in human consciousness represented by the cakras collapse. Pujandar says that after the seven layers collapsed he will go there without fail.  The place he refers to is the spot beyond the sahasrara.  There he will see the kundalini as a column of fire.  This fire appears red in the middle of blue body.  This flame will ascend through the prime channel.  Pujandar says that he will watch it ascend and along with the fire he will see the five letters of namacivaya ascend through the sushumna.  The five letters represent the five elements.

புஜண்டர் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் பிரளயம் உடலில் நிகழ்வதுதான் என்று இப்பாடல் உறுதி செய்கிறது.  மேற்பாடலில் கூறிய ஏழு அடுக்குகள் உடலில் உள்ள ஏழு சக்கரங்களுடன் எவ்வாறு பொருந்துகிறது என்று பார்ப்போம்.  பூ லோகம்- மூலாதாரம், புவ லோகம்- ச்வாதிஷ்டனம், சுவர் லோகம்- மணிபூரகம், மஹர் லோகம்- அனாஹதம், ஜன லோகம்- விஷுத்தி, தப லோகம்- ஆக்ஞை, சத்யலோகம்- சஹஸ்ராரம்.  இந்த ஏழு அடுக்குகளையும் தாண்டி தான் நின்றதாக புஜண்டர் இப்பாடலில் கூறுகிறார்.  அதாவது தனது விழிப்புணர்வை தனது சஹாராரத்துக்கும் மேலே ஏற்றியுள்ளதாகக் கூறுகிறார்.  அப்போது அவர் ஒரு தூணைப் போல சுழுமுனை நாடியில் எழும் குண்டலினியின் அக்னியைப் பார்க்கிறார்.  அது மத்தியில் சிவந்த நிறத்துடனும் மற்ற பகுதிகளில் நீல நிறத்துடனும் காணப்படுகிறது.  அதன் ஜ்வாலை கொழுந்துவிட்டு எரிகிறது.  இந்த தீயில் நகாரம் முதலான ஐந்து எழுத்துக்களும் எழுவதைத் தான் பார்ப்பதாக புஜண்டர் கூறுகிறார்.  நமசிவய என்ற ஐந்து எழுத்துக்களும் மூலாதாரம் முதல் விசுத்தி வரை நமது உடலில் உள்ளன.  அவை இங்கு ஐம்பூதங்களைக் குறிக்கின்றன.
