346. Do not share this book with the less deserving

Verse 346

பதித்தனடா இந்நூலை வெளிவிடாதே

பாவிகள்தான் வணங்கி நின்று வாசி கேட்பார்

சதிப்பனடா வாசிதனைச் சொல்லிவிட்டால்

தலைகீழாய் விழுந்தவனும் மதிக்கான் உன்னை

எதித்து உடன் வாது செய்வான்...

எவ்வளவு போடா நீ வாடா என்பான்

குதிப்புடனே விழுந்தவனும் அலுத்துப் பின்னும்

குறி அறிவோம் என்று வந்து வணங்குவானே

Translation:

I recorded son, do not reveal this book

Sinners will stand saluting and ask for vaasi

If you reveal vaasi they will plan deceit

Even the one who fell head down will not respect you

He will argue with you

“How much? Go away, you silly”- he will talk so disrespectfully

The one who fell with a jump will tire out and then

He will come to salute you saying let us know the signs.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar to not reveal this book to low lives.  Such people will show respect only until they learn vaasi yogam.  Then they will act as if they are supreme masters, they will start arguing with the guru himself, negotiating and speaking to him disrespectfully. After dancing around for sometime he will see the futility of his pride and come back asking for more. 

Agatthiyar is advising Pulatthiyar to avoid such people in the next verse.

இப்பாடலில் அகத்தியர் இந்த நூலை தீயவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்க வேண்டாம்.  அவர்கள் முதலில் வணங்கி வாசியைப் பற்றி அறிந்து கொள்வார்கள்.  அதன் பிறகு தாமே பெரியவர் என்பதுபோல் குருவுடனேயே வாதம் செய்வர், மரியாதையில்லாமல் பேசுவர்.  அவ்வாறு சில நாட்கள் ஆடியபிறகு அலுத்துப் போய் மீண்டும் அருகில் வந்து வணங்கி எங்களுக்கு குறிகளைக் கற்றுக்கொடுங்கள் என்று கேட்பர்.  அத்தகைய மக்களைத் தவிர்க்குமாறு அகத்தியர் புலத்தியரிடம் கூறுகிறார்.
