349. Will a mother kill her child who is poisoned?

Verse 349

ஆகாது என்று சொன்னீர் கும்ப மூர்த்தி

அறியாமல் செய்த பிழை யாரு காப்பார்

பாகையுடன் மதலைதுடை விஷடித் தக்கால்

பசுந்த பின்பு மதலையைத் தாய் கொல்ல லாமோ

வேகாமல் வெந்து நின்ற யோகி உள்ளம்

வெந்ததினால் அத்துயரம் சொன்னீரையா

சோகாதி தாகம் விட்ட மோன மூர்த்தி

துயரத்தை ஆற்றுதற்கு வழி சொல்வாயே

Translation:

Kumba moorthy!  You said it is not possible

Who will protect from faults committed unknowingly

If the thigh of the child is poisoned

When it becomes green will the mother kill the baby?

The heart of the yogi which remained cooked without being cooked

You told about that misery as it was saddened

The silent lord who has forsaken sorrow and thirst

Please tell the way to pacify the sorrow.

Commentary:

Pulatthiyar addresses Agatthiyar as Kumba moorthy.  Kumbam means kumbaka or retention of breath.  It also means the body which is popularly referred to as katam or pot or kumbam.  Agatthiyar is the Lord of this body as he takes if from material existence to the state of Divinity.  Pulatthiyar requests Agatthiyar to tell him how he could pacify his sorrow that was born from errors committed unknowingly.  He tells Agatthiyar an example, that of a child whose thigh has been poisoned.  When the thigh becomes green from the poison the mother does not kill the baby.  She tries to relieve it of the poison.  The errors or faults that are present within us is like that poison.  They will kill us slowly.  Instead of dooming us to destruction Agatthiyar should save from this situation.  Pulatthiyar’s heart is on fire due to the sorrow he feels realizing his faults.  He requests Agatthiyar to tell him the way to get over this misery. 

புலத்தியர் அகத்தியரை கும்ப மூர்த்தி என்று அழைக்கிறார்.  கும்பம் என்பது மூச்சை உள்ளே நிறுத்தும் பயிற்சியான கும்பகத்தையும் இவ்வுடலையும் குறிக்கும்.  நமது பருவுடலை சித்தர்கள் கடம் அல்லது குடம் என்று அழைக்கின்றனர்.  அந்த உடலுக்கு மூர்த்தி அகத்தியர் ஏனெனில் அவர் அதனை பருவுடல் என்ற நிலையிலிருந்து பரவுணர்வு நிலைக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்கிறார்.  புலத்தியர் அகத்தியரிடம் தனது மனம் தனது தவறுகளை எண்ணி வெந்துபோயுள்ளது, அதன் துயரத்தைத் தீர்க்கும் வழியைத் தனக்குக் கூறுமாறு வேண்டுகிறார்.  இதற்கு ஒரு உதாரணத்தையும் அவர் காட்டுகிறார்.  ஒரு குழந்தையின் தொடை நச்சுப்பட்டு பச்சையாகியுள்ளது.  அந்தக் குழந்தையின் தாய் அதற்காக அந்தக் குழந்தையைக் கொள்வதில்லை, அந்த விஷத்தைத் தான் வெளியேற்றுகிறாள்.  அகத்தியரும் புலத்தியரை அழிவை நோக்கி அனுப்பிவைக்காமல் அவரது குற்றங்களைக் களைய வேண்டும் என்று புலத்தியர் வேண்டுகிறார்.
