301. Do not try to get the book through verbal magic

Verse 301

வெடித்துப்போம் புலத்தியனே பயந்து கேளாய்

வீண் இடியும் மண் கரையும் விழலாய்ப் போகும்

பிடித்துப் போய் காலன் உன்னைக் குத்திக் கொள்வான்

பூரணம்தான் சாக்ஷியாய்ப் புகன்றேன் உண்மை

மடித்துப் போம் வந்த பொருள் நிலை நில்லாது

வாய்பிலுக்கால் நூல் பறித்தால் எல்லாம் போச்சு

கடித்துப் பார் நூலதனை வெளிவிடாதே

காட்டாதே புலத்தியனே ஞானம் தானே.

Translation:

It will explode, Pulatthiya!  Hear with fear/care

Unnecessary, the sand bank will brake and become useless

God of death will take you away and kill you through piercing

I am saying this truth, with the fully complete as the witness

Everything will die, any material gained will not last

If the book is grabed through verbal expertise everything is lost

See carefully, do not reveal the book

Do not show it, Pulathiya!  The wisdom.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar is swearing by the Divine that what he is saying is true.  If one tries to get this book through wrong means one’s head will explode.  It will be like a sand bank that will dissolve and be lost over time.  One will meet a very nasty death due to the curse.  Any material gained will not lost.  So one should not try to get it through verabal magic but through sincere effort.  Agathiyar advises Pulathiyar to no reveal it or expose the wisdom to the wrong person.

அகத்தியர் தான் கூறுவது உண்மையே என்று இறைவன் சாட்சியாகக் கூறுகிறார்.  ஒருவர் தவறான முறையில் இந்த நூலைப் பெற முனைந்தால் காலன் அவருக்குக் கொடூர மரணத்தைத் தருவான்.  இதனால் பெற்ற பொருள் எதுவும் தங்காது.  ஞானமும் மண் கரையைப் போல நாளடைவில் கரைந்துவிடும்.  அதனால் ஒருவர் வாய் ஜாலத்தால் இந்த அறிவைப் பெற முனையாது விசுவாசுத்துடன் இதைப் பெற முயற்சிக்கவேண்டும்.  இந்த ஞானத்தைத் தவறானவருக்கு வெளிவிட வேண்டாம் என்று அகத்தியர் புலத்தியருக்குக் கூறுகிறார்.
