269. Agatthiyar explains why he composed meijnanam

Verse 269

சுடர் காண வேண்டுமென்றால் புருவ மையம்

சொல்லறிவு தோணவென்றால் இந்த ஞானம்

படராத சுடர் ஓடிப் படிந்தாப் போலே

படித்திட்டேன் மெய்ஞ்ஞானம் இந்த நூலில்

இடரான இடரனைத்தும் தீர்த்தேன் இந்தநூல்

எல்லோரும் பிழைக்கவென்றே வெளியாய்ச் சொன்னேன்

துடரான துடர் கோடி தொந்தம் கோடி

சொல்லிவிட்டேன் இந்த நூலைத் தூக்கிப் பாரே

Translation:

If the flame should be seen, then it is the middle of the brow

If knowledge from words has to occur, then this book

Like the flame that does not spread but remains in one place

I have taught in this book, meijnanam

I solved all the trials and tribulations

I told this book explicitly so that everyone will be liberated

The chains, they are millions, dilemma - millions

I have told in this book, evaluate it.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar is talking about the place to focus depending on the result desired.  If one wishes to see the flame of consciousness then one should focus at the spot between the eyebrows.  If one wishes to attain knowledge about these techniques and the Divine then one should read meijnanam.  Agatthiyar tells Pulathiyar that he has explained in the meijnanam, details about this flame in such a way that all the doubts, trials and tribulations that people face will be dispelled.  He says that the chains of ignorance, attachements that tether a soul to this world, the dilemma it faces are millions and that is the reason for him explaining these concepts in such an elaborate fashion.

எந்த பயன் வேண்டுமோ அதற்கு ஏற்றாற்போல் எங்கு கவனிக்கவேண்டும் என்று அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார். ஜோதியைக் காணவேண்டும் என்றால் புருவ மத்தியில் கவனத்தை வைக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் வார்த்தைகள் மூலம் அறிவு பெறவேண்டும் என்றால் மெய்ஞ்ஞான நூலைப் படிக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார். மக்கள் தமது கஷ்டங்களையும் சந்தேகங்களையும் விலக்கி கொண்டு உய்யவேண்டும் என்பதற்காக இந்த நூலைத் தான் இயற்றியதாகக் கூறும் அகத்தியர் உலகில் மக்களைப் பல சங்கிலிகள் பிணைக்கின்றன அவர்களுக்குப் பல குழப்பங்கள் ஏற்படுகின்றன. அவரைப் போக்க அவர்கள் இந்த நூலை ஆழப்படிக்கவேண்டும் என்று அறிவுரை கூறுகிறார்.
