27. Who is a raja yogi?

Verse 27

கேளப்பா இது கன (ள)வு  கன (ள)வு  மெத்த

கிருபையுடன் சொல்லுகிறேன் நன்றாய்க் கேளு

வாளப்பா சமுசாரம் மண்ணும் பொன்னும்

மைந்தனே ஜெடத்தாசை இந்நா லுந்தான்

நாளப்பா இந்நாலும் பற்றக் கால்

நன்றாகச் சுடர்மணியில் மீண்டு மீறி

பாளப்பா இது புரிவார் ராச யோகி

பாரிலுள்ளோர் சக்கரத்தைக் கீறுவாரே 

Translation:

Listen, this is all a dream (thievery), dream (thievery)

I am saying this with immense mercy, hear well,

Samsara, land and gold are sword.

Son, desire of the material world are these four,

If they are held on to, then several days

Reaching the effulgent gem and returning

Destruction.  Those who realize this are raja yogi

Those in this world will draw the chakra.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar calls worldly life as a dream or thievery as it deludes us appearing as if it is real.  When one realizes the truth about oneself this worldly life will disappear, like a dream.  One will get the realization that everything is none other than the Divine.   Desire towards worldly life will steal one's precious days thereby hampering one’s march towards realization.  He calls attachments as a sword.  The four attachments are land, gold, relationships and desire for worldly things.  They chop away one’s lifespan like a sword. 

The most deleterious to the progress in this path is attachment.  The Siddhas say that one should cut desire even if it is directed towards the Divine (Aasai arumin isanodayinum aasai arumin).  Even in the case of a yogi who has attained the highest state in kundalini yoga, that of experiencing the gem in the ajna, the presence of pure consciousness, desire will pull him down towards lower cakras or worldly life. People who are worldly minded will pierce the cakra, reach the highest state and yet return to their original lowly state.  Agatthiyar calls this complete destruction.  Those who realize the futility of this whirling are raja yogis- kings among yogis. 

இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கையை ஒரு கனவு, ஒரு களவு என்று அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார்.  தன்னைப் பற்றிய ஞானம் பிறந்தவுடன் இவ்வுலகம் ஒரு கனவைப் போல விலகிவிடும்.  எல்லாமே பரம்பொருள் என்பது புரியும்.  இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கை உண்மையை அறிவது என்ற பெரும் முயற்சியில் ஈடுபடவிடாமல் நமது வாழ்நாட்களை களவாடிவிடும். முடிவில் மிஞ்சுவது அழிவுதான்.  அகத்தியர் உலகப்பற்றை வாள் என்று கூறுகிறார்.  உலகப்பற்று வாளைப்போல நாட்களை அறுக்கும் என்று சான்றோர் கூறியுள்ளனர்.  பொன்னாசை, மண்ணாசை, பெண்ணாசை, பிற பொருட்களின்மீது பற்று என்று இதை அகத்தியர் வகைப்படுத்துகிறார்.  

மோட்சத்தை நோக்கிய பாதையில் ஏற்படும் மிகப்பெரிய தடை பற்றுதான்.  சித்தர்கள் ஆசையை அறுமின், ஈசனோடாயினும் ஆசையை அறுமின் என்று பாடியுள்ளனர்.  உலகப்பற்று ஒரு யோகியை, அவர் மேற் சக்கரங்களுக்கு தனது விழிப்புணர்வை எழுப்பினாலும் அங்கே நில்லாமல் கீழ் சக்கரங்களுக்கு இழுத்துவந்துவிடும்.  இதை அகத்தியர் பெரும் பாழ் என்று கூறுகிறார்.  இதை அறிந்து தவிர்ப்பவர் ராஜ யோகி ஆவார்.
