Verse 30

கூடாதே என்றுரைத்தீர் குருவே ஐயா

குருவிருக்கும் இடம் ஏதோ நாடோ காடோ

வீடான வீடுதனில் இருப்பாரோ தான்

வீதியிலே திரிவாரோ தனிமை நாடோ

ஆடாமல் ஆடியவர் திரியாமதிரிவா ரோதான்

வூங்காதில் வேடமிட்ட பெரியோரோதான்

பாடாகத் தேடினால் வருவாரோ தான்வைத்திருக்கும்

பக்ஷம் வைத்து அடியேற்குப் பகருவீரே 

Translation:

Esteemed Guru! You advised to not associate

Where does the guru reside? In the forest or in the town

Will he be staying in a house?

Will he be roaming around in the streets?  Will he seek privacy?

Will he dance without dancing and roam around without roaming?

Are they great souls that have adorned a garb?

Will they come if one searches sincerely?

Commentary:

Several verses in Agatthiyar meijnanam occurs as a question and answer sessions between
Agatyar and Pulatthiyar.  In this verse Pulatthiyar is asking Agatthiyar to explain to him about the nature of a true guru.  He wonders where to find such a guru.  Will he be in the town or forest, will he remain on the road or in a house, will he seek solitude or be willing to meet people, will he dance without dancing-that is his kundalini is dancing while he remains steady, will he be roaming without roaming- will he be all-pervasive while still remaining in one spot, will he be adorning a garb of someone else- say a mad man, another life form. Pulatthiyar is requesting Agatthiyar to tell him how to find the guru.

இந்நூலின் பல பாடல்கள் அகத்தியருக்கும் புலத்தியருக்கும் இடையே நடைபெறும் உரையாடலாக உள்ளன.  இது அத்தகைய ஒரு பாடல்.  இப்பாடலில் புலத்தியர் அகத்தியரிடம் அவர் கூறிய குருவை எங்கே காண்பது என்று கேட்கிறார்.  அத்தகைய குரு காட்டில் இருப்பாரா, நாட்டில் இருப்பாரா, தனிமையை விரும்புவாரா பிறருடன் பேசுவாரா, ஒரு வீட்டில் உறைவாரா வீதியில் திரிவாரா, அவர் ஆடாமல் ஆடி திரியாமல் திரிபவரா- அதாவது தனது அசைவினால் உலகை இயங்க வைப்பாரா, தான் உடலளவில் செல்லாமல் எல்லா இடத்திலும் விரவியிருப்பாரா, அவர் எந்த உருவில் இருப்பார் என்பது போன்ற கேள்விகளை எழுப்பி புலத்தியர் அகத்தியரிடம் குருவை எவ்வாறு காண்பது என்று வினவுகிறார்.
