210. Please tell me their names and hints about them

Verse 210

அறிந்திடாய் என்றுரைத்தீர் அகத்துள்ளோரே

ஆயிரத்தில் இவ்வார்த்தை அழகாய்ச் சொன்னீர்

பிறந்திடா தென்ருரைத்தீர் கும்ப வாழ்வே

பூதலத்தில் மேய்க்குருவென் றறியவேண்டி

தெரிந்திடவே அவர்களை நாம் அறிய வேணும்

சீர் எது பேர் எது தெரியச் சொல்வீர்

குருந்திடா திருத்தி அவர் செய்கை நன்றாய்க்

குறி சொன்னார் குரு என்றே சேருவேனே

Translation:

“Know this” you said, The one within the heart!

You said these words beautifully, one in a thousand words

It will not occur, you said, the life of kumba

To know the true guru in this world

We should know them clearly

Please tell their glory and name elaborately

And their actions without any contraction

I will join them saying, “The guru has mentioned hints about them”

Commentary:

Agatthiyar described the qualities of a guru generally.  In this verse Pulatthiyar is asking him to mention some names, details about them and some hints so that he may find them as otherwise the glorious life of kumbaka, breath control, will not occur as per Agatthiyar’s instructions.

இதுவரை அகத்தியர் குருக்களைப் பற்றி பொதுவாகக் கூறினார். இப்பாட்டில் புலத்தியர் அவரை அத்தகைய குருக்களின் பெயர், அவர்களது செய்கைகள், அவரைப் பற்றிய குறிகள் ஆகியவற்றைக் கூறுமாறு அகத்தியரை வேண்டுகிறார்.  இல்லாவிட்டால், அகத்தியர் கூறியபடி, கும்பக வாழ்வு கிட்டாது என்பதையும் தான் அறிந்ததாகக் கூறுகிறார்.
