225. Vasishta goes to invite Pujandar

Verse 225

வசிட்டரின் வரலாறு

தகும் ஏற வாரதனை அறிந்து ஈசன்

தவமான வசிட்டரே நீர் புசண்டர் சாய்கை

அகமாக அவரை இங்கே அழைத்து என்சொல்

அவர்க்குரைத்து ருத்திர சபை வாவென்றார்பின்

செகமான செகமுழுதும் ஆண்ட சோதி

திருவடிக்கே நமஸ்கரித்துத் திரும்பி னார்பின்

உகமானம் தனை அறிந்து வந்தார் வேந்தன்

உரை அறிந்து புசன்டரும் தான் காகம் தானே.

        

History of Vasishta

Knowing the reason that this was correct (that Vasishta should invite Pujandar), the Isa,

(said) You Vasishta, the austere one, (go) to Pujandar’s residence

His home, call him here, tell him my words

And say, “Come to the Rudra sabha."

Bid the effulgence that ruled the entire universe.

He (Vasishta) saluted his (Pujandar’s) sacred feet and returned

The king who knew the intent/ the equivalence

Came, Pujandar, the crow who knew the speech.

Commentary:

This verse describes Isa’s bid to Vasishta, Vasishta’s trip to Pujandar’s residence and Pujandar coming to the Rudra Sabha where Isa and other were present.

Isa approved Mayon’s suggestion that Vasishta is the right person to invite Pujandar.  Isa addresses Vasishta as the austere one and tells him to go to Pujandar’s ashrama with the Lord’s words and invite him to the Rudra Sabha.  Vasishta follows this instruction and returns to the Rudra sabha after paying his obeseince to Pujandar.  Pujandar, the knowledgeable one whom Agatthiyar refers to as the king, visits the Rudra sabha.

புஜண்டரை சபைக்கு அழைக்க வசிஷ்டர்தான் சரியானவர் என்ற மாயோனின் கருத்தை ஈசன் ஆமோதித்து, “தவஸ்ரேஷ்டரே வசிஷ்டரே நீர் புஜண்டரின் இல்லத்திற்கு சென்று எமது வார்த்தைகளைக் கூறு அவரை ருத்ர சபைக்கு வருமாறு அழைத்துவிட்டு வாரும்” என்றார்.  அவரது வார்த்தைகளையும் மரியாதைகளையும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட புஜண்டர் ருத்ர சபைக்கு வந்தார்.  அகத்தியர் புஜண்டரை வேந்தன் என்கிறார்.
