124. Discard him as dirt from the cremation ground

Verse124

மட்டை என்றால் காலனையும் சுமக்கும் அப்பா

வையகத்தோர் உழுது பயிர் உண்ணுவார்காண்

பொட்டை இவன் ஏதுமில்லாப் படித்த பாவி

புலையன் இவன் எழுபிறப்பில் நரகில் பாவி

கட்டையில்லா மரக்கலம் போல்  அலைந்த பாவி

கழுதையிவன் ஒரு நாளும் உதவா மூடம்

சட்டையில்லாப் பாவி இவன் முகத்தைக் கண்டால்

தள்ளிவிடு சுடுகாட்டுக் குப்பை தானே

Translation:

If it is coconut front it will carry the dead,Son!

People in the world will grow and consume it, See

This one is a coward, the useless, learned sinner

Low life, will be born in hell in seven births

The sinner who roamed like a boat without the oar

He is the donkey, the useless one, the stupid,

The shirtless sinner, if you see his face

Discard him, the dirt from the creamation ground.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar elaborates on the person he reprimanded in the previous verse.  He called him a coconut frond.  Now he says that at least a frond carries the dead, people cultivate the coconut and consume the products.  This person, on the other hand, is totally useless.  He is cursed to remain in hell, he is like a rudderless boat, he is useless. Agatthiyar calls him dirt from the cremation ground and advises Pulatthiyar that he should discard him.

முன் பாடலில் குறிப்பிட மனிதனைப் பற்றி இங்கு அகத்தியர் மேலும் கூறுகிறார். அவன் மட்டையாக இருந்தாலாவது பிணத்தைக் கொண்டு செல்ல உதவும்.  தென்னை மரம் என்றாலாவது அதை மக்கள் பயிரிட்டு உண்பர்.  ஆனால் இந்த மனிதனோ கழுதை, முட்டாள், மூடன்.  அவனது முகத்தைப் பார்த்தால் சுடுகாட்டுக் குப்பை என்று தள்ளிவிட வேண்டும் என்று அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார்.
