பாடப்பா
இப்படிக்குச் சொல்லும் ஆசான்
பரிவான
சாந்த குணம் முதற்பா தம்தான்
நாடப்பா
இக்குருதான் கிடைப்பதார்க்கு
நல்லோர்க்குக்
கிடைப்பதல்லால் மற்றோர்க்கில்லை
சூடப்பா
இவர் மனது கோபம் ஆனால்
சுக்கிரனார்
சாபமது கோடிக் கேர்க்கும்
காடப்பா
இருப்பார்கள் வீட்டில் வாழ்வார்
கைமுறையாய்
சமுசாரி உண்ணப்பாரே
Translation:
Sing the praise of the teacher who says so
The merciful peaceful quality, his sacred feet is the prime
Seek this guru son. Who will get such a guru?
Only the good will get him, not others
Adorn it (his sacred feet).
If his mind becomes angry
It is like millions of curses from Sukra
They will remain in the forest, live in a house
Be a householder, see carefully.
Commentary:
Agatthiyar praises a guru who tries actively to impart
wisdom to the disciple. He says that
such a guru has immense mercy and grace.
His sacred feet is the prime refuge, the disciple should adorn it. It is
very rare to find such a guru, only the good are granted this and not
others. However, if one angers such a
guru, his curse will be as detrimental as million curses from the chief of
gurus, Sukhracharya. Such a guru may be
a recluse living in the forest or one who lives in a town. He may be a householder too. Agattthiyar advises Pulatthiyar to look
carefully and identify him.
முன்
பாடலில் கூறிய குருவை அகத்தியர் இப்பாடலில் புகழ்கிறார். அந்த குரு தனது சீடன் ஞானம் பெறவேண்டும் என்று
பெருமுயற்சி செய்கிறார். அவர் மிகுந்த
கருணையும் சாந்த குணமும் கொண்டவர். அவரது
திருப்பாதங்களை அந்த சீடன் தலையாய சரணாகப் பற்றவேண்டும். இத்தகைய குரு கிடைப்பது எளிதல்ல, நல்லோர்களே
இத்தகைய குருக்களைப் பெறுகின்றனர்,
மற்றவர்களுக்கு அவர்கள் கிடப்பது அரிது.
இத்தகைய குருவைக் கோபம் கொள்ளவைத்தால், அவர் சாபமிட்டால் அது குருக்களின்
தலையாய குருவான சுக்கிராசாரியார் கோடி சாபங்கள் இட்டதற்குச் சமம் என்கிறார்
அகத்தியர். இத்தகைய குரு காட்டில்
இருக்கலாம், நாட்டில் இருக்கலாம், சம்சாரி என்ற தோற்றத்தில் இருக்கலாம். கவனமாகப் பார்த்து அவரை அடையாளம் கண்டுகொள்ள
வேண்டும் என்று புலத்தியருக்கு அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார்.
