131. Praise to Agatthiyar

Verse 131

மேலான என் குருவே நடன வாழ்வே

மெய்ஞ்ஞானம் மௌன சபை அறிவுள்ளோரே

சேலான சுடர்மணியில் புக்கினோரே

சிவசிவா அஷ்ட சித்து திறம்பெற்றோரே

காலாலே சுழி ஏறி சபைகள் ஆறும்

கருத்தாலே கண்டுணர்ந்த கும்ப மூர்த்தி

ஆலாலே அவரவர்கள் புத்தி வேறாய்

அமைத்தபடி இன்னதென்று அருள் செய்வீரே

Translation:

My supreme Guru, the life of the dance

True knowledge, the silent assembly, the wise one

The one who reached the glorious effulgent gemstone

Sivasiva! The one who possesses the eight siddhis

Climbing the whorl with the help of vital air, the six assemblies

Seen through the consciousness, the Lord of kumba,

As the mental capabilities are different for

Different people please point it as “this”.

Commentary:

Pulatthiyar praises Agatthiyar profusely in this verse and brings out a very important point here.  He lists the glories of Agatthiyar, as the one who is his preceptor, the one who possesses the ashtama siddhi, the one who performed kundalini yoga and thus experienced all the six cakras, the one who became the Kumba muni, lord of kumbaka or retention of breath or the fully complete Lord so.  He then tells Agatthiyar that people differ in their capacity to understand a concept.  Some need only a hint while others need elaborate explanation.  He requests Agatthiyar, hence, to explain in detail about jnana.

இப்பாடலில் புலத்தியர் அகத்தியரை முதலில் வெகுவாகப் புகழுகிறார்.  அகத்தியர் தனது குரு என்றும், குண்டலினியின் மூலம் ஆறு சக்கரங்களையும் பார்த்தவர் என்றும் அஷ்டமா சித்திகளைப் பெற்றவர் என்றும் அவர் கும்ப முனி என்றும் புகழ்கிறார்.  கும்ப முனி என்ற பெயர் கும்பகத்தில் தேர்ந்தவர் என்று பொருள்படும் மற்றொரு பொருள் அவர் கும்பத்தைப் போல பூரணமானவர் என்றும் பொருள்படும். அதன் பிறகு அவர் மக்கள் அனைவரும் ஒரு விஷயத்தைப் புரிந்துகொள்வதில் வெவ்வேறான திறத்தைப் பெற்றவர் என்றும் அதனால் அகத்தியர் ஞானத்தை விரிவாக விளக்கவேண்டும் என்றும் வேண்டுகிறார்.
