192. They live like lily in the pond, like washing the mucus off of a baby!

Verse 192

பாரப்பா சமுசாரி என்றெண் ணாதே

பார்தனிலே அவர்கள்போல் பெரியோர் இல்லை

காரப்பா சாக்கடையில் பிள்ளை பூச்சு

கழுவினது போலிருந்த கதைபோல் ஒக்கும்

பேரப்பா சேற்றில்செங் கழுநீர் பூத்த

பெருமை எனப் போல் இருப்பார் உலகத்துள்ளே

ஊரப்பா இருப்பார்கள் அனந்தம் பேர்கள்

உன்னறிவால் அவர்கள் வந்தால் மிகவும் நன்றே

Translation:

See son, do not think only a householder.

There is no one as great as they are, in this world,

Consider it so, as washing the covering of the infant

In the gutter, this is like 

Name son, the glory of ‘the lily blooming in the mud’

They will remain so within this world.

There are many who remain within the town so.

If they come due to your wisdom, it is good.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar not to mistake these gurus as mere householders as there is no one as great as they are.  They remain in this world getting rid of their karma like washing the covering off of a newborn in the gutter.  This world is the gutter, the baby is the soul or atma.  The mucus covering is the maya and karma covering the soul.  Great souls living in this world leading a good life is like removing the mucus covering off of the baby so that its true nature shines through.  Agatthiyar mentions another adage here.  Great souls live in this world like lily blooming in the mud.  Withing the dirty mud the lily blooms with its full glory.  It is not tainted by the mud.  Even though great souls live in this world they are not tainted by its distractions and temptations.  Agatthiyar says that there are many such great souls living in a place and that it is great if one is able to identify them with smartness of mind.

இதுவரை பேசிய குருக்களைப் பற்றி இங்கு மேலும் கூறுகிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இந்த குருக்கள் சாதாரண சம்சாரிகளைப் போலக் காணப்பட்டாலும் ஒருவர் அவர்களை சாதாரண குடும்பஸ்தர்கள் என்று தவறாக நினைத்துவிடக் கூடாது.  அவர்கள் இவ்வுலகில் இருப்பது பிறந்த குழந்தையை மூடியுள்ள கழிவுகளை சாக்கடையில் அலம்புவதைப் போலவே உள்ளது.  சாக்கடை என்பது இவ்வுலகம்.  குழந்தை என்பது ஆத்மா, கழிவுகள் என்பவை அந்தக் குழந்தையை மூடியுள்ள சளி போன்ற அசுத்தங்கள்.  ஒரு ஆத்மா இவ்வுலகில் வாழ்ந்து தனது கழிவுகளான கர்மம், சம்ஸ்காரங்கள் புண்ய பாபங்கள் ஆகியவற்றைக் கழுவிக்கொள்கிறது.  இதனால் அதன் உண்மையான தன்மை, ஆத்மாவாக இருக்கும் தன்மை வெளிப்படுகிறது.  இங்கு அகத்தியர் மற்றொரு உதாரணத்தைக் கூறுகிறார்.  சேற்றில் பூத்த செந்தாமரை என்று ஒரு வசனம் உண்டு.  எவ்வாறு சேற்றில் இருக்கும் செந்தாமரை அந்த சேறினால் கரை படாமல் இருக்கிறதோ அதே போல் நன்மக்கள் இவ்வுலகில் இருந்தாலும் அதன் கவனச்சிதறல்கள், ஆசைகள் ஆகியவற்றால் தொடப்படாமல் வாழ்கின்றனர்.  இவ்வாறு வாழும் ஞானிகள் இவ்வுலகில் அதிகம் உள்ளனர் என்றும் புலத்தியர் அவர்களைத் தன் அறிவை உபயோகித்துக் கண்டுணரவேண்டும் என்றும் அகத்தியர் கூறுகிறார்.
