144. The one with the complete regalia of a yogi

Verse 144

வேடமிட்டு கமண்டலமும் தெண்டும் தூக்கி

விரித்த புலித் தோல்உடுத்தி விபூதி பூசி

ஆடம் இட்டு ருத்திராக்ஷமாலை பூண்டு

அறையில் வெள்ளிச் செம்பிலே கொலுசு பூண்டு

நாடம் இட்டுச் செவியில் செம்புத் தோடு பூண்டு

நான் அறிவேன் வாதமொடு ஞானம் என்று

மாடம் இட்ட முட்டைகளுக்குபதே சித்து

வசப்பட்டால் தெரியாமல் சண்ணுவானே

Translation:

Adorning a garb holding a kamandalam and a yoga stick

Wearing the tigher skin and smearing sacred ash,

Displaying pomp, wearing the rudraksha beads

With a chain of silver in the waist, a copper anklet,

I know wisdom along with breath control,

For the egg laid in a niche, when mystical accomplishments

Occur, they will fight without realizing it.

Commentary:

This verse is about a false guru who is complete with all the external paraphernalia, the water pot, the yogic stick, the tiger skin dress, sacred ash on the body, the copper anklet, silver waist belt etc.  This person has all the trappings of a guru but lacks the wisdom.  He will claim that he is an expert of breath control and knowledge.  Agatthiyar calls him the egg laid in the niche. Just like the egg that does not know that it contains a lifeform within this man does not know his potential, that he is Divine.  He will claim that he is an expert but will not even know it when siddhis occur to him.  He will fight without realizing it.

இப்பாடல் ஒரு யோகி என்ற வெளி வேஷத்தைப் பூரணமாகக் கொண்ட ஒரு மனிதனைப் பற்றிக் கூறுகிறது.  இந்த மனிதன் கமண்டலம், தண்டம், புலித்தோல், விபூதி, இடையில் வெள்ளி அரணாக்கயிறு, காலில் செப்பு காப்பு  என பூரண வேஷம் போட்டவர்.  தனக்கு பிராணாயாமமும் ஞானமும் உண்டு என்று அறிவிப்பவர்.  இந்த மனிதரை மாடத்தில் இட்ட முட்டை என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  ஒரு முட்டைக்கு தன்னுள் ஒரு உயிர் இருக்கிறது என்பது தெரிவதில்லை.  இந்த மனிதருக்கும் தனக்குள் இறைமை உள்ளது என்பது தெரிவதில்லை.  இவருக்கு அரிய சித்திகள் ஏற்பட்டாலும் அவருக்கு அது தெரிவதில்லை.  அதை அறியாமலேயே அவர் பிறருடன் சண்டை போடுகிறார்.
