78. Pulatthiya, one who is pure, one who is detached!

Verse 78

ஐயனே புலத்தியனே சொல்லக் கேளு

அரைச் சொல்லுக் கிரைச் சொல்லு திருத்திச் சொன்னாய்

மெய்யனே கொங்கணர்தன் ஞானச் செய்கை

விள்ளுகிறேன் மனதடங்கி மனதில் காரு

பையனே முப்பாலும் பொசித்துக் கொண்டார்

பருதி என்னும் சின்மயமே வியங்க மார்க்கம்

துய்யனே புலத்தியனே பற்றற்றோனே

சூக்ஷமிது சூக்ஷமிது சொக்கி ஏறே

Translation:

Sir, Pulatthiya!  Listen to me say it

You said it correctly

The truthful one!  I will tell you about Konkana’s

Action.  With control of the mind save this in your heart

Son! He consumed the three pāl

The chinmaya, the Sun, is the path of the sky

The Pure One!  Pulatthiya! The one free of attachments!

This is subtle, subtle, climb with enchantment.

Commentary:

Agatthiyar adds to his previous instructions on Kundalini yoga here.  He says that the path of the sun is the path to choose.  Ramayana says that Agatthiyar taught Rama the Aditya hrudayam or a prayer for Surya.  One wonders whether Agatthiyar taught Rama this path. 

Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar that Konkanar enjoyed the desire for worldly things transmuted into the desire for the divine and the downpour of the nectar or the somapāl.  He points two important characteristics that an aspirant should possess.  They are purity and detachment.  Purity should be that of words, thoughts and action.  All the actions should be performed without any attachment.  Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar that this knowledge and practice are very subtle and that he should raise his prana through this method with enchantment. 

இப்பாடலில் அகத்தியர் குண்டலினி யோகத்தின் மற்றொரு முக்கிய அம்சத்தைக் கூறுகிறார். ஞானத்துக்கான மார்க்கம் பரிதி மார்க்கம் அல்லது சூரியனின் பாதை என்கிறார்.  இராமாயணத்தில் அகத்தியர் இராமருக்கு ஆதித்திய ஹ்ருதயம் என்னும் சூரிய வழிபாட்டுத் தோத்திரத்தைக் கற்றுக்கொடுத்தார் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. அகத்தியர் இராமருக்கு இந்த சூரிய மார்க்கத்தைக் கற்றுக்கொடுத்தாரோ என்று நம்மை இந்தப் பாடல் வரி எண்ணச் செய்கிறது.  அவர் மேலும் கொங்கணர் முப்பாலையும் அனுபவித்தார் என்று புலத்தியருக்குக் கூறி புலத்தியரைத் தூய்மையானவரே பற்றற்றவரே என்று அழைக்கிறார்.  இவ்விரு குணங்களும் ஞானம் பெறுவதற்கு அவசியம் என்று இதன்மூலம் அகத்தியர் நமக்குக் காட்டுகிறார்.  இந்த வழிகள் அனைத்தும் மிகச் சூட்சுமமானவை என்றும் புலத்தியரை இதன் மூலம் அவரது குண்டலினி சக்தியை சுழுமுனை நாடியின் மூலம் மேலே ஏற்றும்படியும் அவர் கூறுகிறார்.
