90. Agatthiyar explains what is Brahma nishtai

Verse 90

பண்ணப்பா பிரம்மாதி தேவர் என்றும்

பற்றி மெள்ள வாசிதனை உள்ளே வாங்கு

கண்டப்பா மேல் நோக்கிக் கடுக்க ஊணு

கால் ஓடிச் சுழிமேவி கருணை வீசும்

உண்ணப்பா அமிர்தரசம் கனிந்து பாயும்

ஓஓஓ பிரம்மநிஷ்டையிதுவே யாகும்

எண்ணப்பா சொன்னேன்யான் பூரணத்தில்

ஏத்திவிக்கும் தீபமது பிரம்மம் தானே.

Translation:

Perform saying Brahma and other Devas

Holding it slowly bring the vasi within (inhale)

Seeing it fix it firmly directing it upwards
The breath/air will flow going over the whorl and grace will flow,

The divine nectar is mature and flow
O!O!O!  This is Brahma nishtai

Think about it, I told this in pooranam

The lamp that lights is only the Brahman.

Commentary:

This is a continuation of the previous verse.  After performing the sixteen types of respects Agatthiyar tells Pulatthiyar to draw the breath inwards slowly and direct it upwards fixing it firmly.  Vasi is a combination of air and universal energy that rides along with the air.  The vital air will then flow in and spread over the whorl, the ajna.  This will make the divine nectar from Sahasrara descend after turning into the right consistency.  Agatthiyar says that this is ‘brahma nishtai’ or contemplation of the brahman that he has explained in his work, Poornam (poorna sutram).  He further adds that the lamp that is lit in this process is the lamp of the Brahman.

போன பாடலின் தொடர்ச்சியாக உள்ள இப்பாடலில் அகத்தியர் பதினாறு வகை உபாசரங்களைச் செய்த பிறகு புலத்தியர் வாசியை மெதுவாக இழுத்து மேல் நோக்கி ஊணுமாறும் அப்போது உள்ளே வந்த காற்று சுழிவரை சென்று கருணையைப் பொழியும் என்கிறார்.  வாசி என்பது மூச்சுக்காற்று மட்டுமல்ல. அது காற்றுடன் உடலுக்குள் வரும் பிரபஞ்ச பிராண சக்தி.  இந்த சக்தி சுழி எனப்படும்ன்வ ஆக்ஞை வரை சென்று அங்கிருந்து அமிர்தத்தை ஊற வைக்கும்.  இதை உண்ணுமாறு அகத்தியர் புலத்தியருக்குக் கூறுகிறார்.  இதுவே பிரம்ம நிஷ்டை என்கிறார் அகத்தியர்.  இதைத் தான் பூரணம் (பூரண சூத்திரம்) என்னும் நூலில் கூறியுள்ளதாகவும் இந்த முறையினால் ஏற்றப்படும் தீபம் பிரம்மமே என்றும் அவர் மேலும் விளக்குகிறார்.
